Peroneal Tendonitis

Peroneal tendonitis is a condition that occurs due to acute or chronic overloading of the peroneal tendons. These tendons wrap around the back of your outside ankle bone. Tendons are notoriously slow to heal, and the peroneals are no exception. Peroneal tendonitis results when a load is applied to the tendons that is greater than what they can sustain. As a result, the peroneal tendons become injured and inflamed. Some potential causes are chronic ankle sprains, over-pronation and faulty foot mechanics. Custom Foot Orthotics can help this condition by altering tissue tensions and by modifying foot mechanics.
